DRAWING IN GROUPS

For this activity, we made groups of four students randomly in order to draw a drawing all together. However, it was not a normal drawing: each student had to draw a quarter of the drawing separately and they had to discus, agree and cooperate in order to make all the quarters correspond to each other.

To do this activity, we used cardboard, pencils and black markers to draw it and then go over it, and chalk pastels to paint it.
Here we can see the drawings of the students of 5th gade:

WATERCOLOUR DRAWING

Today, we will work with watercolour. However, before using the watercolour, we will design a silhouette on a scrap paper.
Once we have decided the silhouette that we will draw, we will paint it with black marker on a painting paper and next we will start using the watercolour.
On one of the widest sides of the paper, we will paint stripes (8 cm long approximately) with different tones of the same kind of colours (warm colours, cold colours, different kind of green/blue/red…). Each time that we will paint a stripe, we will blow de paper in order to move the extra watercolour all around the paper.
It’s nice if the colours of the watercolours that we choose and the silhouette that we draw are related, for example: using blue watercolours and drawing a silhouette having an umbrella; or red colours and drawing something burning.

CLAY DRAGONS

Since before Easter holiday, we had been working for “Sant Jordi”. We prepared clay dragons, and during the “Setmana Cultural” the students from 6th grade voted for the best dragons of 5th grade.
On the first day, we watched some pictures of dragons to have some ideas in order to design a dragon on a drawing paper. After that, we started modelling our dragon with clay. We could use different colours in order to make some details, and we used toothpicks to give more consistency to our dragon.
Here we can see the dragons of 5th grade pupils exposed in the corridor of “Cicle Superior”:

THE ARTS & CRAFTS DIARY

Since few days, we are developing a new way to work in this subject: the arts & crafts diary. In this diary, we will compile all the works that we will develop all along the rest of the academic year.
For each activity done in arts & crafts, the pupils will write the date that they finished it; the name of the activity; the materials that they used; and a brief description of the activity (how they did it, the steps that they followed…).

In addition, in this diary there is a dictionary section where the pupils will collect the new words that they will learn during the lessons.

PLASTER MASKS

As we celebrated Carnival last Friday, after Christmas holiday we started working on that.
This year, for Carnival, we prepared plaster masks with the pupils of 5th grade. The students worked in pairs in order to make the masks to each other, putting pieces of plaster bandage and water on their faces. After the plaster masks dried, they painted them with tempera paint and they could decorate them with glitter, plumes, silver and gold markers…

On the link below, we can see our pupils working in pairs and the masks that they did:

WINTER LANDSCAPE

During the last lessons before Christmas holiday, we made a winter landscape using the mosaic technique.
To do so, we designed our landscape drawing it on a sheet of paper, and later, we started covering it with glue and little pieces of colour paper and cardboards. The colours that we used were cold colours, as those are the kind of colours that represent winter. We could also use warm colours to make some details, such as the Sun, the Moon, tree trunks, etc.
Once we finished this activity, we hanged the pictures on the walls of Cicle Superior, in order to decorate it during winter.
Here we can see the pictures of the students of 5th grade:

FINNISH STARS

Few weeks before Christmas, to create a winter environment at the school, we made some origami. This time, the activity that we did was a paper star called Finnish star. The stars that we did were to hang around “Cicle Superior” and at the hall of the school.

Those are the stars that our pupils of 5th grade made:
